Recently we have started a new program for Early Childhood Environmental Education for the preschools. For effectiveness and sustainability of the trainings and activities we are going to arrange different activities and different training sessions in 1 year period on monthly basis.
More practical activities such as games, presentations and plays in which the children act and have different roles, storytelling and experiencing nature itself;
More ‘do it yourself’ activities such as putting up a school garden together with children and letting them experience this for themselves.
The best example for reducing and reusing we are creating new materials together with the kids from the waste materials.
You can see from the pictures one of the example where we had a created new and funny object (pencil case) from the toilet paper roll together with the kids using the creativity and imagination of the kids. We had learned that not all wastes are wastes. Some wastes can be recycled and reused ‘in very funny way’.
We believe by establishing good habits like reuyse&recycling at a young age, those habits are more likely to stick with kids as they get older.
Children are our future, so it’s important to teach them about environmental issues so they can continue to help create change together.
